About our league rules and guidelines for LIGA Australasia Cup 2K23 Season

  1. These rules are applicable only for the LIGA 2K23 Season.
  2. These rules are in accordance with the current season format.
  3. These rules are linked on our sign up form and by joining Liga Australia, you have agreed that you have read and agreed to abide by these rules.
  4. These rules are subject to change and will be communicated internally among the players.
  5. By joining you agree to our waiver.  Minors Aged Participants (below 18 yo participants) & Adult Participants (18yo+)

Player Eligibility

  1. Liga Australia is now an Australasia league. Players must be Asian-blooded, (either your Grandfather, Grandmother, Mother or Father came from Filipino bloodline).
  2. LIGA 2K23 is a Men’s Elite basketball tournament. The season is for Ballers who are 16 years old and up.
  3. Players must be fully paid to join & play in our basketball season.
  4. Players who have played in professional leagues are allowed in this league.
  5. Players who are under the age of 18 will need to have their parent/guardian around in all the games of the season.
  6. Players who are under the age of 18 are required to have a parental waiver signed to be able to join and play in Liga Australia. This must be submitted before the first game of the season.
  7. Registrants must be medically fit to join competitive sports.
  8. Players must have either Medicard or Private cover to join Liga Australia. The league doesn’t provide medical insurance as the league doesn’t include an insurance fee on the registration.
  9. Liga Australia is catering only to Australasian ballers, if you are looking for an open league please visit MBL www.officialmbl.com.au.
  10. The league has all the right to choose who will play in this league through their own screening and assessment process.
  11. Fill-ins and players who have not registered are not allowed to participate in any game of this league.
  12. Full official uniforms are required for all players to play in all games.
  13. If a team puts a player in a game that violates this rule, it will be an automatic loss for the team for each game a team plays with an ineligible player.

Reinforcements in Liga

  1. Reinforcements are players who are non-Australasian players.
  2. Teams in Liga 2K23 Season are allowed to have 2 imports.
  3. Teams can only change Reinforcements or alter their roster within the 4 rounds of the season.

Teams in Liga

  1. Teams may only have a maximum of 15 Players on their roster.
  2. Teams can only alter their roster within the 4 rounds of the season.
  3. Teams are required to be in the venue 30 mins prior to the scheduled game.

Player Uniforms & Wearables

  1. Players are required to wear complete uniforms whenever they play an official season game in MBL or any of its sub-leagues. Officials will not allow a player with incomplete uniforms to play.
  2. Earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets, fitness watches, any electronic under the uniform, and all metallic accessories are not allowed to be worn while playing.
  3. Players are allowed to wear warmers, compression wear under their uniforms.
  4. Sports basketball goggles is the only allowed eyewear in the league.
  5. Statement baller bracelets are allowed.
  6. Headbands, bandanas, turban & headgears are allowed as they represent culture and personal statements.
  7. Fracture protective masks are allowed.
  8. Any metallic items must not be worn at any time at any game on all our games.
  9. Players are not allowed to wear clothing with offensive meaning/swearing /sexual meaning that is not appropriate for younger audiences. Penalties may apply as all MBL leagues are organised to be family-friendly events.

Gameplay Qualifiers Round

  1. Qualifiers Round will have a Single Round Robin format. A team will only verse other teams once.
  2. Only the Top 8 teams will proceed to Quarterfinals.
  3. Qualifiers Round games, Quarterfinals & Semifinals will have 4 Quarters, 10mins in each quarter in a running-time mode, except for the last 2 minutes of the game. There will be no 24sec shot clock rule except for the last 2 mins of the game. If the lead of a team in the last 2mins of the ball is 20 or more, the stop clock rule is waived.
  4. Each player has five fouls to give.
  5. Teams have 1 timeout each quarter except for 4Qtr where each team has 2. Time runs on these timeouts except for the last 2 mins of 4th quarter.
  6. Teams may only alter their roster within the 4 rounds of the season.
  7. The first Overtime period is only 2 mins.  The succeeding overtime periods will be just 1 min. Each team will have 1 timeout on each period. Team penalty carries over in the overtime period.
  8. Teams who will forfeit a game will have a demerit of -10 on Team Avg and 2 forfeits will mean instant elimination from the season. Forfeit is simply a loss with.
  9. Teams must notify the league or captains group if they will forfeit the game 24hrs prior to the scheduled game. Failure to notify the league will incur $200 AUD penalty fee to the team. This penalty must be paid before their next game.
  10. In a forfeited game, the winning team will have the score of their Team AVG score game while the losing team will have 0 as their score. All Players of a winning team will have the same stats from their previous game and will have attendance on that match. Forfeit is lower than a loss. All Players of the losing team will be marked as not attended.
  11. Players must have complete uniforms on all the games of the season.
  12. Tie-breakers in sequence: Team Average Scoring (Offensive Team AVG) , Head-to-head, Defensive Average.
  13. Videos cannot be used to overturn the outcome of the game. Videos can be used to implement reviews on misconduct and giving technical counts against a player or a team.

Playoffs – Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Grand Finals

  1. For Liga 2K23, only the top 8 teams will proceed to the Quarterfinals.
  2. All playoff games are knockout games, win or go home.
  3. Players must have played at least 4 regular-season games to be eligible to play in the playoffs & season awards. Official Preseason games will be counted as well if there is.
  4. Only the Top 4 teams will proceed to the Semifinals.
  5. Semifinals is a knockout round. Winners from Semifinals round will proceed to the Liga Grand Finals.
  6. Grand Finals will have 4 Quarters of 10mins per game in full clock mode. There will be a 24-second shot clock rule on the entire game.
    Two timeouts each qtr. Clock stops on timeouts.

Misconduct and Technical Count

  1. Technical Count (TC) are demerits & it refers to the number of misconduct and unacceptable actions of a player within the season.
  2. Player TCs are classified and reviewed by officials and committee. Players who will have a total of 3 Technical Counts in a single season could potentially be suspended for a game, season and ultimately be banned in the league.
  3. If a team puts 2 imports on the floor. The first will be a warning for technical. The 2nd and succeeding violations will be (1)techinical FT shots in favor of the opponent.Players with * are imports on the Liga Players page.Team Captains may approach the table when they notice a violation. Our crew table officials know what to do in this scenario.
  4. Liga reserves the right to allow players who will join our league. Because we’re an open league, one of the grounds a player won’t be allowed to play in Liga will be for his history of misconduct and unfair plays.
  5. Using swear words is not allowed in Liga as we are creating a family-friendly league here. Be respectful at all times.
  6. Liga will never get into betting and side hustling. If you see something , say something. Email us at [email protected]
  7. Players who will be found guilty of selling a game will be subject to league ban.
  8. Players and teams are responsible for anything that will be broken or damaged in the facility as a result of their action.
  9. In the event of team walk over, the game will be considered a forfeit. The team will be subject for approval for next season and may likely to be the removed from the league.
  10. Teams who will forfeit a playoff game will be subject for approval for next season and may likely to be the removed from the league. This includes all the players of the team.
  11. Players who will threaten, show misconduct, attack and disrespect anyone in the league will be subject for season ban or league ban.
  12. It is easy to join Liga but is near impossible to come back.
  13. Players who have unsettled matters with any league run by the MBL will not be allowed back to the league.
  14. Banned players will never be mentioned again throughout the Liga History and records.
  15. Liga is made up by passionate volunteers and crew willing to cover the Liga Games. Show respect to everyone.

Injuries & medical emergencies

  1. Teams are responsible for their players. The league suggest all teams are ready as well in case of an emergency and potential injury on every Round.
  2. MBL doesn’t include insurance fees on registration fees, thus we only help in giving players first-aid in case of an injury.
  3. Calling emergency 000 in case of an emergency will be on a player’s behalf.
  4. MBL has some crew who are Registered Nurses around and the league has a first-aid kit on hand.

Refunds and Cancellation

  1. A player cannot ask for a refund for their uniforms once it has been done as they have their number and surnames on it.
  2. We don’t give refunds to players/teams once they have played a game of the season.
  3. It may take 14 days for a refund to complete to a nominated bank account.
